August 3, 2022: COVID Weekly Data Update

The data below show cases, hospitalizations, and deaths over time for the USA (green), South Dakota (orange), and Brookings County (blue).  The higher rates of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths among South Dakota residents early in the pandemic are apparent, as is the slight lag in timing since early 2021 seen in South Dakota relative to the rest of the country.  The larger the population, the smoother the lines and more reliable the estimates – this explains why Brookings County seems to jump around so much more than South Dakota and the USA lines.  Graphs are from https://covidactnow.org
